Rain Washes Out Bonus Runoff, Low Buck Final Round
Wednesday, May 23, 2006
Mother Nature allowed 99% of eliminations to be completed before rain stopped the final two pairs of cars from
making their runs during the Wednesday Night Program at Dragway 42.

Competitors seem to like the brand new LED dial-in boards that have been installed this month. These TSI displays
are part of the $1/2 Million dollar improvement project underway for the racers and fans at Dragway 42.
In the Anything Goes Class Jeff Maat of Spencer, Ohio at the wheel of his Camaro used a final round pass of 10.6761 / 120.59 MPH
on a 10.67 dial-in to take the victory over Fairview Park's Doc Crawford and his 442 Oldsmobile.
The win moved Maat into first place in the Anything Goes season points standings. He is the third different person to
hold the points lead in the class in that many races.
In an all-Pontiac Street Trophy Class final Wayne Darlington of Akron and his 1971 Grand Safari Station Wagon took the win
after Elyria's Rebecca Pickens turned on the red-light in her Grand Am.
Darlington, who also advanced to the semi-final round in the Low Buck class, moved into second place in the Street Trophy
class points standings with the victory. He is now just 10 points behind his son Bryan who has led the standings every
week so far this season.
In the Low Buck class, rain washed out what would have been an all-Chevrolet final round battle between the 9 second Nova
of Brunswick's Dave Chidsey and the 10 second truck of Creston's Brian Gifford. The two finalists split the combined winner and
runner-up purse for their efforts.
The rain also stopped the 5 Foot Trophy Bonus Runoff between the Anything Goes class winner and the Street Trophy class winner.
Jeff Maat correctly predicted "heads" in a flip of the coin to determine which driver would take home the huge trophy however,
since no actual race was contested in the Bonus Runoff round, he did not receive the 10 additional points that normally
would be awarded to the bonus runoff winner.
Prior to the rain, Avon's Scott Adams took the Trophy Bike class victory over a redlighting Paul Melhuish of Cleveland.
