"Index" Class Racing Leads Off 3 Day Weekend Schedule
Friday, May 4, 2007

This weekend's racing action begins Friday night with the addition of "Index" class racing to the Street Race, Grudge Race, and Test & Tune program at the Dragway 42.

At the track awards banquet held in late January, attendees noted that "index classes" would be added to the regularly scheduled Friday Night test and tune program for select dates during the 2007 season. "The initial announcement of index classes was greated with enthuasiam by a large number of our racers," stated Ehrmantraut. "We received a number of calls and email messages concerning the program and after looking at some things that were brought up by racers who wanted to participate we decided to expand on the originally announced classes."

The following elapsed time standards will be in place for the index classes beginning with the first of these special events on Friday, May 4:

CASH 1/8th Mile Index Classes
5.70 - .4 Pro Tree (Same as QR/SC)
6.40 - .4 Pro Tree (Same as SR/SG)
7.00 - .5 Pro Tree (Same as HR/SS)
8.00 - .5 Pro Tree

TROPHY 1/4 Mile Index Classes
13.00 - .5 Pro Tree
14.00 - .5 Pro Tree
15.00 - .5 Pro Tree
16.00 - .5 Pro Tree

For those not familiar with "index classes", all cars in the class race heads-up with the first car to the finish line being the winner as long as the car has not run quicker than the ET index.

The Friday test & tune event car and driver fee is $10. On the designated "index class" Friday Nights, cash class racers will pay an additional $10 fee that will fund the 100% payback purse for the class for that evening.

Racers who wish to enter the trophy index classes will receive a free entry to that portion of the event with their paid test and tune entry.

Ten "Index Class" Friday nights are scheduled for 2007. The dates are May 4 and 18; June 8 and 22; July 13 and 27; August 10 and 24; and September 7 and 21.

Expanded 2007 Wednesday Night Program Starts Tonight
New Trophy Classes Added; Cash Purse Increased; and $3,000 Summit Retail Store Gift Cards To Be Distributed This Season
Wednesday, May 2, 2007

Dragway 42 launches its Wednesday Night Trophy and Cash Race Program presented by the Summit Racing Equipment Retail Store in Tallmadge, Ohio tonight.

Expanding on the format used in previous years, five different 1/4 mile trophy classes and one 1/8th mile cash class will be in competition each Wednesday through the end of October.

This season a total of $3,000 worth of Summit Racing Equipment gift cards for use at the Summit Retail Store in Tallmadge, Ohio will be distributed to Wednesday race event participants. At each of the 30 scheduled Wednesday events a total of $100 worth of gift cards (5-$20 cards) will be distributed. Each week a different criteria will be used to select the Summit Gift Card winners to give as many racers as possible a chance to win a portion of this $3,000 gift card prize pool.

The 2007 Season sees the return of the Street Trophy, Powder & Performance Coatings Anything Goes Trophy Class, and The Bike Shop Trophy Bike classes plus two new classes. The Sport Compact class and the Truck/Van/SUV class debut tonight. All five of the trophy classes are contested on the 1/4 mile distance.

Dragway 42's Wednesday cash class has been renamed and offers more money to the competitors. The "Run Tuff" class brings back a name used in the 1980's at Dragway 42. Dragway 42's first "Run Tuff" track champion was none other than NHRA Pro Stock champion Mark Pawuk.

"RUN TUFF" - WEDNESDAY'S CASH CLASS

Run Tuff is an all-run, unlimited class for vehicles with dial-ins from 0-11.00 on the 1/8th mile distance.

"Run Tuff" now pays more money to the final round racers with $100 going to the winner and $75 going to runner-up. For the first time, the Wednesday Cash Class now offers $5 round money beginning with a racer's second round win of the evening and $5 buybacks into the 2nd round of eliminations.

Car and driver (or bike and rider) entry fee for the "Run Tuff" cash purse class is just $20.00
