Weekend Preview For Racing Action At Dragway 42
Friday, June 15, 2007

FRIDAY

Dragway 42 offers the best value in drag racing and more bang for your entertainment buck with our Friday Test and Tune, Street Race, and Grudge Race Night presented by PowderGuys.com

For just a $10 bill, anyone with a legal vehicle and a drivers license can make as many runs as they wish and time allows down the 1/4 mile track at Dragway 42 on any Tuesday or Friday night.

For just a $5 bill, adults can watch the action while youths 14 and under get in free to all of our events.

Gates open at 5:30 PM and action will continue until at least 10 PM

SATURDAY

Racers and test & tune participants share the track on Saturday night with our weekly "Cash Dash" program.

For the racer, the "Cash Dash" offers separate Delay Box and No Box classes running for guaranteed purses, round money, and bonus money for the winners and runner-ups when the car count breaks the 32 entry level.

Both of the classes pay a minimum of $300 to win and $125 to runner-up for a $20 car and driver entry fee. Once the car count breaks 32, an extra $10 is added to the win purse and an extra $2 is added to the runner-up purse. Last weekend over $700 was paid to the winner and runner-up in No Box with over $500 of that total going to the winner.

Test & Tuners can make all the runs they want on Saturday night for just $12. The Test & Tune continues all night long, even between the elimination rounds of the "Cash Dash" classes.

Gates open at 4 PM Saturday. Eliminations begin at 8:30 PM. Spectators pay just $10 for the evening and youths 14 and under are admitted free of charge.

SUNDAY

The season-long Akron Machining Institute / Summit SuperSeries program continues Sunday with the 7th event of 2007.

Featuring racing in 7 different classes (Milestone Services Corp. "Top" Class; Wind-It-Tight Engines "Mod" Class; Akron Horsepower "Street" Class; The Bike Shop of Akron / Vanson Leathers "Pro Bike" Class; Pat Catan's Craft Centers "Jr. Fuel" Junior Dragster Class; and the World Cup Coffee "Junior Super Stock" and "Junior Stock" classes), every age driver and type of vehicle has a place in the competition on Sunday at Dragway 42.

In addition to the cash purse exceeding $5,000 for the day plus IHRA Summit SuperSeries and Dragway 42 contingency payouts racers who "chase points" will be focused on their positions in the standings as just two events remain on the schedule until the midway point when 1/3 of the team that will represent Dragway 42 at the IHRA Division 3 Bracket Team Finals will be selected.

Point racers are reminded that the top 4 racers in Top, the top 5 racers in Mod; the top 2 racers in Street; and the top racer in Pro Bike after the June 24th scheduled event will automatically qualify for the 2007 Dragway 42 Bracket Finals Team.

For Junior Dragsters, the top racer in Junior Fuel and the top racer in Junior Super Stock after the June 24th event will face off at our special Wednesday, July 4th event for a guaranteed spot on the 2007 Bracket Finals Team.

Any tie breakers in any of our classes concerning the 1st half season automatic qualifying spots for the 2007 Bracket Finals Team will also be run off at the Wednesday, July 4th event.

With as many as 80 points available for a class win, nearly every racer still has a chance to get into those "automatic" qualifying positions. Other racers who got a late start to the season or may have been competing in another sanctioning body's program can look forward to the 2nd half points that begin on the first Saturday night in July for the chance to make the team as another 1/3 of the team will be selected based strictly off of 2nd half points.

All competititors are reminded that they are NOT required to be in Dragway 42 points to participate in the track's weekly AMI / SSS events although there are significant financial benefits available for point program members.

Gates open Sunday at 9AM with the first session of Junior Dragster time trials at 10 AM and the first session of big car and motorcycle time trials scheduled for 11 AM. Final eliminations is scheduled to begin at 3 PM.

Car and driver entry fees range from $20-$35 depending on the class. Adult general admission is just $10 with youths 14 and under admitted free of charge.

Great Weather Forecast For Big Race Weekend On Saturday
and Sunday With UMTR After Storms Wash Out Friday's Action
UMTR Racer Friday, June 8, 2007

As the saying goes, if you don't like the weather in Ohio, just wait a little while and it will change.

Friday afternoon's hot weather gave way to rounds of thunderstorms that washed out the evening's schedule but the cool front promises bring clear skies and mild temperatures for Saturday's and Sunday's race programs.

SATURDAY, JUNE 9th:

Saturday will feature another round of Dragway 42's highly popular "Cash Dash" race program with test and tune.

For just $20 racers will be able to compete in either of two Cash Dash classes (Delay Box and No Box) racing for their own separate, guaranteed purses.

Each of Saturday evening's classes begin with a guaranteed minimum of $300 to win and $125 to runner-up plus $10 round money beginning with a racer's second round win of the event. The purses in each class rises by $10 per car to win and $2 per car to runner-up as the number of racers in the class breaks the 32 entry level. Two of the past three weeks have seen a significant "bonus" based on the car counts exceeding 32 in the classes.

Test and Tune competitors are not left out on Saturday nights. For just $12 anyone can make as many runs as they like down Dragway 42's 1/4 mile race track.

Gates open Saturday at 4:00 PM with the Cash Dash classes' eliminations beginning at 8:30 PM. Test and tune racers continue to run between the rounds of the Cash Dash, allowing the fun to continue until well past 10 PM most nights.

UMTR Logo SUNDAY, JUNE 10th:

Dragway 42 continues its Akron Machining Institute / Summit SuperSeries program this Sunday including the seven regular classes plus the first of two appearances this year at the track from the United Manual Transmission Racers organization.

The UMTR is a regional organization of all-stick shift race vehicles that travels a multi-state area during their race season. This Sunday's event will be the first of the 2007 season for the approximately 100 racers who compete in the UMTR North division.

Mickey Thompson Tires (one of UMTR's primary sponsors and one of Dragway 42's lane sponsors) will have representives on hand to offer technical advise to racers and the Mickey Thompson trailer will be on site with slicks available for purchase.

Dragway 42's own point racers in the Milestone Services Corp "Top" Class, Wind-It-Tight Engines "Mod" Class, Akron Horsepower "Street" Class, The Bike Shop of Akron / Vanson Leathers "Pro Bike" Class, plus the three Pat Catan's Craft Centers and World Cup Coffee sponsored Junior Dragster classes move just that much closer to the mid-point of the season with this Sunday's event.

Point racers are reminded that 1/3 of the Dragway 42 Bracket Finals team will be determined by the standings after the June 24th event (just 3 races away).

The top 4 racers in Top, the top 5 racers in Mod; the top 2 racers in Street; and the top racer Pro Bike will automatically qualify for the 2007 Bracket Finals Team.

For Junior Dragsters, the top racer in Junior Fuel and the top racer in Junior Super Stock after the Sunday, June 24th event will face off at our special Wednesday, July 4th event for a guaranteed spot on the 2007 Bracket Finals Team.

Any tie breakers in any of our classes concerning the 1st half season automatic qualifying spots for the 2007 Bracket Finals Team will also be run off at the Wednesday, July 4th event.

Gates open this Sunday at 9AM with the first session of Junior Dragster time trials at 10 AM and the first session of big car and motorcycle time trials scheduled for 11 AM. Final eliminations is scheduled to begin at 3 PM.
