The event also includes special awards as voted by those purchasing banquet tickets, the 2008 season's track rules meeting, special announcements, open discussion, and more.

Racers are able to save money on their 2008 racing activities with the traditional points registration and permanent parking spot discounts that are offered only at the annual banquet. In addition, a raffle for a 2008 Dragway 42 "Special Events" Gold Card will also be held.

The event will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at the Barberton Moose Annex Building. The social hour begins at 6PM with dinner being served at 7PM. The awards presentation and meeting will begin after dinner.

The price for banquet tickets remains unchanged from last year at $30.00 per person. The price includes great food (ribs and chicken), coffee, beer, and soft drinks plus 3 separate door prize entry tickets.

Last year's event featured a bonus with more than 140 door prizes valued in excess of $6,000 being awarded to those in attendance. This year's door prize pool continue to grow with thousands of dollars in products and certificates from Goodyear, Mr. Gasket, Edelbrock, S&W Race Cars, Stroud Safety Equipment, Performance Engine and Machine, World Cup Coffee, and Arby's having already been received.

Those who attended the January, 2007 banquet will remember that the event played host to the largest ever, and a near capacity turnout. Be sure to purchase your tickets early as there is a chance that the 2008 event will be sold out.

Tickets for this event are available by advanced purchase only. No tickets for this event are sold at the door.

Thursday, December 27, 2007

As the final days on the 2007 calendar are crossed off, racers from all over the country look forward to the first drag racing event of 2008.

Those thoughts of racing in this part of the country turn to the longest running New Year's Day drag racing event in the United States, the 9th Annual Hangover Nationals at Dragway 42.

A record turnout of nearly 250 racers from 4 states competed in the 2007 Hangover Nationals and even more participants are expected to take the christmas tree in round 1 of the 2008 event.

This event is run in all weather conditions, whether it be sun, snow, rain, or anything else Mother Nature has in store. As has been the case in the first 8 Hangover Nationals, the bracket racing format of allowing a diverse array of vehicles ranging from street cars to duallys race heads-up on a dial-in that is based on the year. The 2008 Hangover Nationals will have all entries dialed 20.08 in the main event.

If time and weather conditions permit, a separate "dial-your-own" bracket race will also be run as part of the New Year's Day 2008 event.

Last year A.J. Buchannan of Vickery used an .0319 reaction time in his Mercury Mountaineer to take the final round win over Chris Freeland's Norwalk based 1996 Chevrolet Suburban. Buchannan's margin of victory in the finals was just .0121

Gates will open at 11 AM on Tuesday, January 1. Time trials will run continuously until the start of eliminations at 2:30 PM.

The total price for the race entry for the 2008 Hangover Nationals is just $15 with adult spectator admission offerd for just $10. As is the case for all Dragway 42 events, children under the age of 15 are admitted free of charge.

At this event passengers are allowed to ride along in both time trials as well as the 20.08 dial-in eliminations.

All competitors who win 3 or more rounds of eliminations will take home a trophy from this year's event. The 9th Annual Hangover Nationals champion and runner-up will take home specially designed trophies specific to this event.
