The "Rock" portion of Dragway 42's 5th Annual "Rock and Race" Nostalgia Weekend includes a wide spectrum of
bands and styles for the musical portion of the show which will continue until midnight on both Friday and
Saturday nights.
From the band voted as 2009's Best Surf Rock band (KB and the Riptides) to a rising Rockabilly group from Detroit
(The Phantom Shakers); from a new band formed by members of two different bands which have performed at previous
Dragway 42 Rock and Race events (Gimme Dat Shoe) to a high energy, classic rock group (Krush); from an eclectic
mix of rock, punk, funk, and metal (Hot Ham and Cheese) to a quartet that has been "rockin memories" for 4
decades (the Bullit Band), these performers and more will put the "Rock" in this year's "Rock and Race" Nostalgia
weekend.

Those who have attended the first four "Rock and Race" events know that the crowds to watch the bands have often
exceeded the room to watch and rock out to their performances at the stage's location during those years.
Well, for 2010, Dragway 42 has brought in a new, larger stage... better sound and lighting... and has moved the
musical portion of the "Rock and Race" event to the large, grassy area on the east side of the track for your
enjoyment.
Bring your lawn chair or blanket (along with a cooler if you choose) to listen to the live music from 8 PM to
midnight on Friday and 7 PM to midnight on Saturday at the 5th Annual Rock and Race Nostalgia Weekend.

HOT HAM AND CHEESE • Performing Friday Night
"Hot Ham and Cheese" utilize a loud, stripped-down, raw sound behind lyrics that discuss the finer
things in life... partying, dirty chicks, stupid societal issues, standing up for what you believe in, and of
course, rebellion!!!
With a sound has been described as an eclectic mix of rock, punk, funk and metal, Hot Ham and Cheese has built a
strong regional following thanks in part to their energetic, aggressive live performances which have stretched
across the Midwest in cities such as Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Detroit and Chicago.
The group embarked on their first national tour in 2008 to support their new album, Revolution & Revelations.
This followed their debut release on indie label Jib Machine Records in 2006 and an instrumental album in 2007.
A limited edition compilation sampler, 7-track CD featuring Hot Ham and Cheese was released for distribution
in Japan only in May of this year by HH*C's label.

KB AND THE RIPTIDES • Performing Saturday Night
"KB and the Riptides" play hyper-surf rock and maximum R&B. They perform all of the greatest
surf, blues, and rock instrumentals plus several fun vocal songs.
Some follow the original recordings, others have a "Riptide" twist. In addition, they play many crowd-pleasing
ORIGINAL selections.
Cleveland Scene Magazine selected KB and the Riptides for their "Best of 2009" Award and the group has been
invited to play the House of Blues this fall.

THE PHANTOM SHAKERS • Performing Friday Night
"The Phantom Shakers" are a traditional 1950's Rockabilly band, based in the Motor City. Formed
in the winter of 2008, the Phantom Shakers consist of the one and only Elle Mae on lead vocals.
Elle is an amazing talent, with exceptional voice, charm, and stage charisma indicative of yesteryear.
Singer/Songwriter Sista Otis, recently noted as an inspiration to American Idol stand out Crystal Bowersox, has
dubbed her "The Wanda Jackson of Detroit". Guitarist Mark Longsdorf a.k.a. Markie-D is the other melodic
influence in the band, bringing his own hybrid style of twangy guitar to the forefront. The rhythm section
consist of upright bassist James MacPhee, and veteran ACE drummer Mike Kissick.
Together they have over 70 years of on-the-job ROCKABILLY experience, and are one of the finest rhythm sections
anywhere. Rockabilly music in essence is the purist form of what we call "Rock n' Roll" (i.e. Elvis Presley
(pre 1960), Carl Perkins, Gene Vincent, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Burnette, just to name a few). We are also
deeply inspired by western swing greats such as Bob Wills, Ernest Tubb, Faron Young, Patsy Cline etc.
They are a mixed bag of all roots music, and also have the upmost respect for contemporaries such as Big Sandy
& Fly Rite-boys, Deke Dickerson, Marti Brom, etc. The band is currently working all over the Detroit area,
and on their debut record "Hellcats n' Wild Ones" slated for release in the fall of 2010.

THE BULLIT BAND • Performing Saturday Night
"The Bullit Band" originated in 1975 and is still rockin' today.
The Bullit Band's music consists of 1950's thru 1990's rock and roll, country and a little bit of new age music
during its 40 to 50 shows a year.
The only original member of the band left is Larry Lovely on lead quitar and vocals. He has been playing lead
guitar and handling vocals since 1967. The other band members include David Dolland on bass and vocals, Scott
Adams on keyboards and vocals, Nate Lovely on drums and percussion, Arran Schultz-Drums on percussion as well
as being the group's light and sound technician, and Kim Lovely, Leigh Anne Lovely, and Aubrey Lovely on lead
vocals.
The band's 40+ year history has included many treasured moments, but it is tough to rival The Bullit Band's
opportunity to be the opening act for The Charlie Daniels Band in 2003.

GIMME DAT SHOE • Performing Friday Night
"Gimme Dat Shoe" brings you raw, trashy rock & roll just the way you like it.
After the demise of Horror of '59, guitarist/vocalist Bob "Noxious" Ignizio and bassist/vocalist Sugar Wildman
(ex-Lords of the Highway, current Broken Circle Gospel Deluxe) decided to start a new band.
Since Pete Wildman was living in the same house as Sugar and owned a drum set, he was recruited to beat the skins
and contribute the occasional vocal. Finally, Ken Pickelsheimer (The Dad of Rock, Hairwolf) was brought in on
lead guitar so Bob wouldn't have to play anything too strenuous.
Taking their name from Cleveland TV personality Superhost's catch phrase, Gimme Dat Shoe. And now, the Shoe's on!

45 SPIDER • Performing Friday Night
"45 Spider" is comprised of two married couples, focused on bringing rock and roll back to music.
With a penchant for 60's era garage rock and a solid lineup, 45 Spider takes inspiration from the original sounds
of the 60's and infuses it with contemporary sound to bring an authentic view of rock and roll back into to the
modern era.
Bassist, Kevin and Singer, Hadley bring the inspiration while Guitarist, Brent and Drummer, Chanda bring the
noise. While not exactly ABBA, 45 Spider embodies the essence of pure rock and roll - played with the passion
of the 60's in the flair and style of today.

LONG SHOTS • Performing Friday Night
Long Shots features Southern Rock, Country, and Classic Rock with Bill Suddith on drums, Kevin
Carpenter on bass, and Linda Felter on rhythm guitar and vocals.
