2008 Dragway 42 / Summit SuperSeries
Season's Final Point Standings
How Points Are Calculated
For all racers who are entered into the track points program prior to the start of eliminations for that event...
- A racer receives 10 "participant" points for each Dragway 42 Summit SuperSeries event where an
entry is paid, a tech card is submitted, and the racer is paired with another vehicle in the first round of
eliminations for that event.
- A racer receives 10 additional points for each round of eliminations that is won at that event. This includes
a normal round win over an opponent, a bye run due to an odd number of cars in the round or due to competition breakage, or
the disqualification of an opponent.
***Buyback rounds and beyond do not accumulate points***
- A racer whose vehicle breaks before eliminations has two options. The first option is to take a
"break pass" and receive NO points for the event. The second option is to notify the tower that the vehicle is
broken and will not run in the first round. If the tower is notified of this fact before the first round of
eliminations, the racer will still receive their 10 "participant" points for that event.
With this program, racers are no longer forced to run their tow vehicle, etc. to receive first round points as
was necessary in previous years. A racer must be present at the track and must make a time trial using their
competition number to be eligible for this option to collect their 10 points for participation at the event.
IT IS THE RACER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO NOTIFY THE TOWER IF YOU ARE BROKEN, WILL NOT MAKE FIRST ROUND, AND WISH TO
CLAIM YOUR "PARTICIPANT" POINTS.
Point Calculation Examples:
- Racer A has signed up for the 2008 Dragway 42 Points program for the Wind-It-Tight Engines Mod class. He wins
his first and second round races, but has a .0005 redlight in round three to end his day. Racer A receives 10
points for participation in the first round of eliminations plus 10 points for his win in the first round plus 10
points for his round in the second round, earning a total of 30 points for the event.
- Racer B is also signed up for the 2008 Dragway 42 Points program for the Top class. He has some bad luck in
round one, his vehicle stalls in the waterbox and his opponent receives a competition bye run. Racer B fixes the
problem, buys back into round two, then goes five more rounds to win the event. Racer B receives 10 points for
participation in the first round of the Top Class. He does not receive any points for the first round loss or any
points for the rounds won after the buyback, earning a total of 10 points for the event.
POINT FEES:
Entry to the season-long Dragway 42 track points program is $60 for the Top and Mod classes; $50 for the Street and
Pro Bike classes; and $25 for the Jr. Fuel and Jr. Super Stock classes. Jr. Stock points entry is free of charge.

2008 Dragway 42 SummitSuperSeries Schedule
"Team 42" - Bracket Team Finals Roster
For 2008, the number of racers allowed to represent Dragway 42 as members of "Team 42" has been expanded.
At the end of the 2008 Dragway 42 point season, a team of 45 racers (43 participants and 2 alternates) from
Dragway 42 will be invited to be a part of "Team 42" which will participate in the IHRA Division 3 NorthStar
Bracket Team Finals that will be contested at Pittsburgh Raceway Park in late September.
All racers in all Dragway 42 point classes are eligible for consideration to be part of "Team 42".
The initial selection process will be based on the number of racers signed up for points in each class.
For example, if half as many racers are signed up for Akron Horsepower Street than are signed up for Wind-It-Tight
Mod, then initially half as many Street racers will be invited as Mod racers.
If any of the 45 racers initially invited to be part of "Team 42" are unable to participate in the Team Finals
event, track management will work further down to point standings to select replacement racers for those spots to
ensure that a full field of Dragway 42 team members are allowed to participate at the Bracket Team Finals event.
The specific breakout of the number of racers per class will be determined after the 6th point event of the year.
