Final Day of Rock & Race Nostalgia Weekend To
Include Pre-1976 Fun Runs, Trophy and $1000 To Win
Money Class Racing, Side-By Side Nitro Funny Cars,
Burnout Contest, and More at Dragway 42 on Sunday
Sunday, July 25, 2010

A cold front that moved in late Saturday evening offers a significant cooldown in the temperatures, but no cooldown in the red hot action at Dragway 42 as the track prepares for the final day of its 5th Annual "Rock and Race" Nostalgia Weekend.

Gates open at 9 AM for a day which will include another full schedule of on track action for 1976 and earlier vehicles including a 1/4 mile trophy class for cars running 12.00 second elapsed times and up, a $1000 to win Money class for vehicles running elapsed times of 0-10.99 on the 1/8th mile, plus hours and hours of 1/4 mile fun runs for 1976 and earlier machines which don't want to be involved in a racing eliminator.

Also on Sunday's schedule is the awarding of another promotor's choice trophy for "Rock and Race Excellence" as selected from today's cruise-in participants, the always popular burnout contest, and a special edition 100 mph club qualifiying session for street legal rock and race participants.

Did we forget to mention at least one exhibition session by a pair of nitro burning, prostalgia funny cars?

Sunday's schedule calls for on-track action to get started at 10 AM and racing eliminations to begin at 2 PM. With some cooperation from the weatherman, overcast skies will disappear and will help with meeting those times.

Single day admission is available for today with adult general just $15 and children 12-under getting in free when accompanied by an adult.

Single day fun run and trophy class drivers pay just $20 for their car and driver entry fee and racers wishing to participate in the $1000 to win class pay $35 for their car and driver entry fee today.

Burnout contestants pay no additional fee to get into that competition.

Come out and join us for the final day of the 5th Annual "Rock and Race" at Dragway 42 today!

Gribben Takes Friday Night "Race" Win On Opening
Night Of D42's Rock & Race Nostalgia Weekend;
Two More Big Days Still Left To Go!
Saturday, July 24th, 2010

This morning has dawned with only a few scattered clouds in a bright blue sky as Dragway 42 prepares for Day #2 of its 5th Annual Rock and Race Nostalgia Weekend.

Mother Nature was kind enough to let every bit of the "race" portion of the Friday program to be run without a single drop of rain, including over 5 hours of fun runs, test & tune, and 1/4 mile gambler race eliminations.

In fact, with the exception of the audience and performers getting a taste of the show must go on (aka "rain") for the final 45 minutes of the 4-1/2 hour "Rock" portion of Friday's show, people's only beef with Mother Nature was some real, July-like summer heat.

Fortunately for everyone, the precipitation fell from about 11:15 PM Friday to around 2:30 AM Saturday and has now moved out of the area. That will leave plenty of time for the parched ground to soak things up in time for today's program.

Gates open this morning at 8 AM for Swap Meet Vendor setup, followed by admission of the general public no later than 10 AM.

Test and Tune as well as Fun Runs get started today at 11 AM.

Come on out and join the fun of vintage drag racing, the cruise-in, fun runs, the car corral, swap meet, vendors, two exhibition runs from the Nitro burning prostalgia funny cars, and 5 more hours of live rock music today at Day #2 of the 3-Day "Rock and Race" Nostalgia Weekend at Dragway 42.

Traffic Alert - Bridge Closures Along I-71

For those who approach Dragway 42 from the south or southwest through the city of West Salem
on Congress Road (Ohio Route 539), the ODOT has closed that roadway's bridge over I-71 as
part of a $1.3 million rehabilation project. The bridge is expected to reopen on Sept. 25th.

Access to West Salem from I-71 North via Route 301 was also lost recently due to a similar
million dollar bridge rehabilition project conducted by Ohio Department of Transportation.

For those who are traveling to Dragway 42 from the south or southwest, alternate routes from I-71
include exiting at US 250 North (near Ashland) to connect with US 42 East or exiting I-71 at Route
83 and taking that roadway through the city of Lodi to 421 West, then west on US 42 to the track.
