Night Of D42's Rock & Race Nostalgia Weekend;
Two More Big Days Still Left To Go!
Saturday, July 24th, 2010
This morning has dawned with only a few scattered clouds in a bright blue sky as Dragway 42 prepares
for Day #2 of its 5th Annual Rock and Race Nostalgia Weekend.
Mother Nature was kind enough to let every bit of the "race" portion of the Friday program to be run
without a single drop of rain, including over 5 hours of fun runs, test & tune, and 1/4 mile gambler
race eliminations.
In fact, with the exception of the audience and performers getting a taste of
the show must go on
(aka "rain") for the final 45 minutes of the 4-1/2 hour "Rock" portion of Friday's show, people's only beef
with Mother Nature was some real, July-like summer heat.
Fortunately for everyone, the precipitation fell from about 11:15 PM Friday to around 2:30 AM Saturday and has
now moved out of the area. That will leave plenty of time for the parched ground to soak things up in time
for today's program.
Gates open this morning at 8 AM for Swap Meet Vendor setup, followed by admission of the general public no
later than 10 AM.
Test and Tune as well as Fun Runs get started today at 11 AM.
Come on out and join the fun of vintage drag racing, the cruise-in, fun runs, the car corral, swap meet, vendors,
two exhibition runs from the Nitro burning prostalgia funny cars, and 5 more hours of live rock music today at
Day #2 of the 3-Day "Rock and Race" Nostalgia Weekend at Dragway 42.

Traffic Alert - Bridge Closures Along I-71
For those who approach Dragway 42 from the south or southwest through the city of West Salem
on Congress Road (Ohio Route 539), the ODOT has closed that roadway's bridge over I-71 as
part of a $1.3 million rehabilation project. The bridge is expected to reopen on Sept. 25th.
Access to West Salem from I-71 North via Route 301 was also lost recently due to a similar
million dollar bridge rehabilition project conducted by Ohio Department of Transportation.
For those who are traveling to Dragway 42 from the south or southwest, alternate routes from I-71
include exiting at US 250 North (near Ashland) to connect with US 42 East or exiting I-71 at Route
83 and taking that roadway through the city of Lodi to 421 West, then west on US 42 to the track.
