After a weekend filled with rave reviews by racers of all types concerning the new,
SMOOTH, 250' concrete
launch areas at Dragway 42, business gets even more serious this weekend when the first of twelve scheduled
Summit SuperSeries event is held this Sunday.
Again in 2012, the track based portion of the Sunday afternoon point series will see over $9,000 in cash and
prizes being awarded to more than 30 different racers across Dragway 42's six various point classes. This figure
is in addition to the national program in the $200,000 IHRA Summit SuperSeries.
IHRA broke new ground in 2011 by doubling the number of racers from the Mod and Top classes of the North Star
Division (Dragway 42's home IHRA Division) who advanced to the World Finals.
For 2012, the big addition is the expansion of the World Championship program from two categories (Top and Mod)
to three categories with the Junior Dragster program being elevated to include its own World Championship
in the IHRA Summit SuperSeries.
Dragway 42 point racers will also have the opportunity to pick up thousands in additional cash that various
Dragway 42 sponsors have made available in contingency awards for a class win at any point race as well as any
special event with an advertised purse of $1,000 or more to win.
Again this year, Dragway 42 will take 45 of its point racers (a team of 43 plus 2 alternates) to the IHRA
Division 3 Bracket Team Finals which will be held in Pittsburgh in late September.

For 2012, racers in all of Dragway 42's point classes will enjoy
NO PRICE INCREASE for a fourth
straight year for entry fees along with the continuation of the popular
GUARANTEED PURSE program which
includes the doubling of the win purse in the Top and Mod classes to $1,000 to win when 64 or more cars
participate in the first round of eliminations.
Mother Nature appears to be a bit more cooperative with getting the 2012 Summit SuperSeries program underway.
Last season, she showed who was boss by not allowing that first points race to be run until the first weekend
in June.
Dragway 42's 2012 Summit SuperSeries schedule includes 12 events from May through September.
Once again this year, Dragway 42 offers at least one 'off week' from the Summit SuperSeries each month for those
who need the time to participate in activities away from the track, work on the dreaded 'honey-do' list, or
even a chance to step away from their time behind the wheel.
In May and June, Dragway 42 will host a pair of Summit SuperSeries events each month... May 6th and 20th plus
June 3rd and 10th.
Three Summit SuperSeries events are scheduled for July, with events on the 1st, 15th, and 22nd.
In August, Dragway 42 will host a pair of Summit SuperSeries events. Those will be run on the 5th and 19th.
The battles for the various class championships and spots on Team 42 will get intense in September as 3 of the
season's 12 scheduled events occur after Labor Day.
Dragway 42 will host Summit SuperSeries events on September 9 as well as back-to-back events on Saturday,
September 15th as part of the track's 13th Annual "Night of Thunder" followed by the point season finale on
Sunday, September 16th.
Gates open at 9 AM for each Sunday Summit Super Series Event.
Junior Dragster time trials beginning at 10 AM with their eliminations beginning after 3 time trial
sessions.
Big Car and bike time trials get underway at 10:30 AM with their eliminations beginning at 2:30 PM
